Leadership Spotlight: Wendy White
September 8, 2025
At Ovation, leadership means more than guiding teams—it’s about living our Core Values. In this edition of our Leadership Spotlight Series, we’re proud to feature Wendy White, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). With over 30 years of experience at Ovation, Wendy has been instrumental in creating a culture where people feel connected, supported, and empowered. Her leadership reflects our commitment to Always Improve and Build Belonging, ensuring that every employee has the tools and encouragement to thrive.
Q: What does your role as CHRO involve?
A: As Chief Human Resources Officer, I have the privilege of shaping the people strategy that powers our mission. My role bridges both heart and strategy, overseeing recruiting, performance, engagement, and culture across the company. I collaborate with teams and leaders to align our compensation, benefits, and talent programs with Ovation’s values and goals.
I also champion Ovation’s Core Values by promoting inclusion, celebrating milestones, and reinforcing a sense of belonging. From executive strategy to employee coaching, I focus on building an environment where people feel supported, seen, and empowered. When we invest in our people, everything else falls into place.
Q: What’s the best or most memorable piece of career advice you’ve received?
A: A dear friend of mine always said, “Life is full of choices, some good, and some bad, but you must live with the ones you make. Show up every day and do the best you can.”
That advice has stayed with me throughout my career. As CHRO, I carry that mindset into how I lead, helping others navigate challenges, own their growth, and show up with purpose. A positive spirit and a daily commitment to doing your best help create the kind of culture where people truly thrive.
Q: Looking back, how has your 30-year journey shaped your approach to leadership and human resources?
A: I began my journey at Ovation as an executive assistant supporting the VP of Property Management, and over time, I had the opportunity to step into that very role myself. As Vice President, I poured my energy into building strong teams, driving operational excellence, and creating a culture where people felt valued and connected. That foundation set the tone for how I lead today as CHRO, always with a focus on people, purpose, and belonging.
That beginning shaped how I lead today: with humility, accountability, and a willingness to jump in alongside my team. While I mentor, coach, and lead strategically, my light shines brightest when I’m shoulder-to-shoulder with others, celebrating wins, working through challenges, and pursuing shared goals.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats and helped build HR from the ground up. Every step of the way, I’ve remained grounded in the belief that people matter most. That belief continues to drive every initiative I lead.
Q: Which of Ovation’s brand values resonates most with you, and why?
A: The Ovation Core Value that speaks to me most is “Build Belonging” because it’s not just about inclusion; it’s about intention. Belonging is created when people feel safe to show up as themselves, contribute authentically, and know they matter. It’s not a one-time gesture, it’s a consistent effort woven into how we lead, communicate, and collaborate.
As CHRO, I see belonging as a shared responsibility. It’s in how we design our employee experience, how we listen and respond, and how we cultivate trust at every level. When belonging is present, people do more than just stay, they thrive, they contribute, and they care.
This value guides how I approach every policy, every conversation, and every initiative. When people feel like they belong, they bring their whole selves to work, and that’s when the magic happens.
Q: What HR or workplace trend are you keeping a close eye on this year?
A: One of the most important trends I’m focused on this year is the rising expectations for meaningful, personalized work experiences. Employees are looking for more than just traditional benefits or workplace perks, they want to feel more connected to the why behind their work, recognized for their contributions, and supported in their development.
At Ovation, this means evolving how we approach everything from onboarding and career pathways to recognition and communication. We’re focused on creating experiences that foster purpose, connection, and long-term growth. When employees feel aligned with the mission and confident in their path forward, they engage more fully, and that’s where the real impact happens.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about living or working in Las Vegas?
A: As a true West Coast girl, one of my favorite things about Las Vegas is the weather. I’ll take the sunshine over snow any day! But what really makes this city special is the energy and opportunity. There’s always something to do, from shows and dining to hiking at Red Rock or a quick weekend getaway to surrounding states.
Las Vegas is more than just entertainment; it’s a city that thrives on innovation and reinvention. I love being part of a community where exceeding expectations is the norm. That mindset fits perfectly with how we work at Ovation. We are always evolving, always improving, and always aiming to elevate the experience.
Wendy’s journey is proof that growth and connection are at the heart of Ovation’s success. From her early days as an executive assistant to her current role as CHRO, she has consistently embodied our Core Values—pursuing new ways to Always Improve while fostering spaces that Build Belonging. Her story is a reminder that when we invest in people, we elevate experiences and strengthen our community.
