Leadership Spotlight: Jess Molasky

August 7, 2025

In this month’s Leadership Spotlight, we’re proud to feature Jess Molasky, Chief Operating Officer at Ovation. As a second-generation leader in a family-run business, Jess brings a unique blend of legacy, innovation, and intention to his role. With a deep appreciation for teamwork, a passion for progress, and a strong sense of purpose, he plays a vital role in shaping Ovation’s culture and long-term vision. In this Q&A, Jess shares his perspective on leadership, values, and the future of the industry — all rooted in a love for community and the city we call home.

Q: What is your favorite part of your role at Ovation?
A: My favorite part is getting to be involved in so many different aspects of the work we’re doing. I love working with different teams across the company and learning a little something from each department and leader. It keeps things dynamic and gives me a deeper appreciation for how all the pieces come together.

Q: What’s the best or most memorable piece of career advice you’ve received?
A: At the end of the day, we’re all choosing to show up and play this game together. That choice to support the team is made every day. I’ve always thought of work like being on a sports team: everyone has their role, and the goal is to move forward together. It’s not always easy, and we won’t always agree, but we stay focused on the bigger picture and lift each other up. That mindset has really shaped how I approach leadership and collaboration.

Q: How has continuing your family’s legacy influenced your approach to leadership and business?
A: Being part of a family business makes the core values so much more personal. These aren’t just company values — they’re values I want to live by in my own life. It’s given me a strong sense of purpose around how and where I choose to spend my time and energy. I genuinely love what we do and who we get to do it with, and that makes all the difference.

Q: Which of Ovation’s brand values resonates with you most, and why?
A: Always Improve. I find it exciting to try new things and look for ways to make them better. It’s not always the easiest path, but it’s how progress happens. Greatness comes from consistently iterating, learning, and pushing things forward even when it’s messy. I think that’s where the magic is.

Q: What trend in the industry are you currently excited about or looking forward to?
A: I’m really excited about the movement to make skilled trades cool again. In places like Australia, tradespeople — electricians, carpenters, builders — are seen as respected professionals. Somewhere along the way, we lost that narrative in the U.S., but I think there’s a cultural shift happening. Hard work pays off, and I love the idea of celebrating that and showing people that building things, literally, is something to be proud of.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about living or working in Las Vegas?
A: Las Vegas still feels like the Wild West — a place full of opportunity where you can make anything happen if you’re willing to work for it. There’s a kind of magic here. It’s a great home base with incredible access to nature, and the rest of the world comes to you. It’s bold, gritty, and full of potential, just like the people who live and work here.

Jess’s leadership style reflects Ovation’s core values in action — collaborative, forward-thinking, and grounded in purpose. His commitment to continuous improvement and his belief in the power of people drive not only our company’s growth but also the culture we’re building together. As Ovation continues to evolve, leaders like Jess remind us that meaningful progress comes from showing up, staying curious, and supporting one another every step of the way.
