Leadership Spotlight Series: Josie Molasky

July 11, 2025

At Ovation, design is more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating thoughtful, welcoming environments that enhance the way people live. At the helm of that vision is Josie Molasky, our Design Principal. With a deep connection to Las Vegas, a family legacy rooted in community, and a passion for purposeful design, Josie plays a vital role in shaping the look, feel, and soul of Ovation’s communities. In this month’s Leadership Spotlight, we’re featuring her Spotlight Q&A to learn more about her role, creative influences, and design philosophy.

Q: What’s the best or most memorable piece of career advice you’ve received?
A: My dad always told me, “Do what you love, and do it well.” That mindset has really guided me. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a career that aligns with my passions. Design is a field where creativity meets purpose, and that balance keeps me energized. I feel grateful to be in a career that pushes me creatively and challenges me in the best ways.

Q: How has continuing your family’s legacy influenced your approach to leadership and business?
A: Carrying on my family’s legacy—especially getting to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps—has given me a strong sense of purpose. He truly cared about people from all walks of life and worked to make Las Vegas feel like a community where everyone could belong. His example reminds me to lead with empathy. Whether I’m designing a common space or listening to feedback from residents and team members, I try to approach every decision with an understanding that people are at the heart of what we do.

Q: Which of Ovation’s brand values speaks to you most, and why?
A: “Do it right” really resonates with me. In design, details matter—and getting them right takes time, care, and collaboration. I believe that when we take pride in our process and hold ourselves to high standards, we create places that not only look beautiful but feel good. It’s through that commitment to doing things the right way that we’re able to truly elevate the Ovation experience.

Q: What design trend are you currently loving or looking forward to?
A: I’m really inspired by sustainable and biophilic design—especially in a city like Las Vegas, where the connection to nature can feel distant in day-to-day life. I’ve put a lot of thought into how our spaces can serve as a sanctuary—a place where people feel grounded, at ease, and connected to their surroundings.

Biophilic design can encourage appreciation for the environment, promote sustainability, and foster more eco-conscious habits, which is important to us at Ovation. That’s why wellness is a central theme in our design philosophy. Whether it’s tranquil yoga and Pilates studios, thoughtfully designed fitness centers, community gardens, or serene outdoor areas with pools, hot tubs, and cabanas, we aim to create environments that support a more balanced lifestyle.

We’re also integrating sustainable systems and materials into our developments. That includes EnergyStar appliances, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, improved insulation, and solar panels that offset a portion of our community’s electrical use. Our use of drought-tolerant landscaping also reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility in the desert.

To me, it’s not just about how a space looks—it’s about how it makes people feel. I want our residents to walk into a space and immediately sense calm, beauty, and intentionality. Through natural textures, warm lighting, organic shapes, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow, we’re creating communities that inspire people to slow down, connect, and feel truly at home.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about living or working in Las Vegas?
A: Growing up here, I’ve developed a real appreciation for the desert—it’s full of unexpected beauty. One of my favorite places is Red Rock Canyon. I love hiking there in my free time—it’s not only a great reset but also a constant source of design inspiration, especially for our landscape architecture.

Josie Molasky’s vision and leadership continue to shape the future of Ovation’s communities, where design meets meaning, and every detail supports a more intentional way of living. Her thoughtful approach ensures that our spaces don’t just look beautiful—they feel like home. We’re proud to spotlight Josie’s talent, values, and the creative heart she brings to everything she does.
