Senior apartments, tiny homes part of new development bringing Nevada governor’s praise

Gov. Joe Lombardo joined city and county officials on Monday as a new affordable housing project for seniors broke ground in Las Vegas. The Decatur Rome Senior Apartments development will include 38 tiny homes and three buildings totaling 238 apartments.

Ovation Development Corporation is building the $78 million complex on 9.5 acres just north of Decatur Boulevard and the northern 215 Beltway.

Of the 278 total units, 180 will be available to seniors making less than 49% of Area Median Income (AMI), and 96 units will be available to seniors making less than 59% of AMI, according to a news release. Tiny homes will offer 400 square feet of living space, while one- and two-bedroom apartments will range from 664 to 891 square feet.
